The Short Game

Buy local, shop small, nurture the roots.

Written for a one-day fundraiser at OTTO in Andover, October 2025. The pizza argument still stands.

Hello my Andover friends. I hope this message finds you and yours well. I know we're all working on the long game... getting bombarded by requests to donate to fund this, fight that, win small, go big. But I say don't forget the short game. Buy local, shop small, go out, nurture the roots. These are plays we can make any day, anytime, and there’s no time like now. Our friends at Otto's Pizza in Andover have agreed to donate portion of their food sales today, all day (dine-in, carry out, and delivery) to the AHS Marching Band. No matter if you root for the Yankees or the Sox, tack to the starboard or the port, get your ass on down to a gem that we privileged to have in Andover at OTTO Andover. Whether your pie to try is covered in mashed potatoes and bacon, caramelized onions and savory fennel sausage, or the forrest floor, I'll put my dollar down that you’ll give it a "damn" and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. And if carbs aren’t your thing, the Greek salad can’t be beat. See you soon.

I write tributes for a living — eulogies, toasts, send-offs and keepsakes. See how that works.
