This is going to be simple. I'll not bore you with details of my last road trip or dissect the finer points of my views on our socio-political system ad nauseum. Let's stick to business. I'll lay out my work experiences, goals, and the skills I've developed over the years, then you can figure out how to get in touch with me asap to enlist my help with your next great project. Experiences
I have spent the last six years in Chicago, working on numerous creative projects. I have played the role of creative director, programmer, information architect, project manager, instructor, and even server administrator. Before that, I spent most of life in the restaurant industry as a professional. I've done work for some powerful brands, and more dearly, beloved local businesses. These include Allstate, Nintendo, Navistar, Miller, Leo Burnett, Draft FCB, Razorfish, Radius, and Via Matta.
Goals
A great friend once shared with me some advice from his grandfather. I don't remember that advice very well, but what I took away from it are two important mantras that I carry with me today – "Do what you want" and "Be useful to people". I think it's important to fullfill my ethical imperitave, which includes such things as building community and improving the education and experience of the young. Spending time in the marketing industry, programming games and microsites as advertisements doesn't provide the kind of moral satisfaction that I'm seeking. Idealy I could practice my existing knowledge and skill to help improve a business that has a mutual interest in these imperatives. I would like to play a key role in making something grow and showing that business and community can grow together.
